Embracing Unity in Diversity

Excel International School, a division of Al Ain Juniors group - waved a magic wand of colours and cultures in an extravagant event – EMBRACING DIFFERENCES – and enthralled Al Ain on 29th November.

A mini global village was set up in the school grounds to mark the 51st National Day of the UAE. The event intended to unite the world in thanking the UAE for its policies of tolerance and inclusion.

In addition to the executive members of the school, the galaxy of guests included Principals from the neighbouring schools and several Emirati well-wishers of the school.
Ms. Agnes Nathaniel, the Head Teacher, saluted the spirit of the founding fathers of the UAE and welcomed the gathering. In his address, the Chairman of AJ Group, Mr. Arshad Sharief, reiterated the theme by thanking the people of UAE for accepting the expatriate community and for the endless opportunities provided to realize their dreams.

The large crowd was jubilant and cheerful as the PRIDE OF NATIONS – the parade of students representing ten countries of the world – marched along to the beat of the carnival and chanted slogans praising the UAE. A cultural extravaganza ensued with traditional dance of forms of these countries through which the students tried to inform and entertain the audience by displaying their love for their own motherland while thanking the UAE which is their home away from home.

The charm of the Global Village was re-enacted by pavilions of the ten countries which had their cultural artifacts on display. The visitors served themselves from the delectable spread of traditional food displayed at each pavilion. The more adventurous could try their luck at the various game stalls and the winners went home carrying wonderful gifts. All proceeds of the event would be donated to the UAE Red Crescent Society.

The event was well-appreciated by the parents and all hearts resonated the prayer – Long Live the UAE!
